This December, we’re hosting a packed calendar of festive events, making us a Christmas shopping hot spot.
Visit Pexmas and be surrounded by smells of mulled wine as you shop, or visit the Bussey Winter Collective Fair as residents of Bussey Building bring their Open Studios down to Copeland Gallery. If you’re looking for ease, we’ve listed a hand-picked selection of unique Christmas present ideas from some of our crafty residents, all of which can be bought online.
Make a day of it at a Christmas market..
The Kiln Rooms open their studio doors twice a year, for their Christmas Sale and Summer Show. These act as a showcase for their up-and-coming artists and designers working with ceramics. Drinks will be served from 5pm on the Friday. Open Saturday & Sunday 11am-6pm with a programme of demonstrations throughout the weekend. Browse, meet the makers and pick up some beautiful handmade ceramics.

Etsy Made Local is a UK-wide event where Etsy Artisans and Vintage Shops join together in a Christmas Market, perfect for one stop Christmas shopping with something for everyone. There will be workshops to participate in.

Pexmas is Peckham’s home grown festive market, and a celebration of local business, creativity and community spirit. You will find over 100 independent boutique stalls including prints, plants, bath products, ceramics, clothes, accessories, jewellery, homewares, foodie gifts, craft beers and wines & textiles. Plus street food, DJs and their infamous mulled wine.

This year’s Bussey Building Open Studios come to Copeland Gallery. Peckham based artists, makers, crafts people and creators are showcasing their works in an opportunity to meet, buy and commission.

Ethical UK designer Laura Queening incorporates traditional skills and beautiful Nepalese materials for accessories label Aura Que. Developed in collaboration with small groups of producers in Nepal, its bags purses, scarves, hats, jewellery, ceramics and stationery have been featured in Vogue.com who applauded their “durable yet… elegant designs”.

Collaborating with artisans all over the world, Just Trade creates beautiful and contemporary jewellery and accessories for the ethically minded, using innovative design practices and a business model that prioritises long-lasting overseas relationships.

Founded in December 2015 by Tom Piercy, Alpha’s main focus is on clothes made from quality fabrics, constructed to the highest standard. Some of their clothing takes in classic military or workwear silhouettes while other outerwear fuses technically advanced fabrics with innovative construction techniques.

Wavey Garms garnered cult status as a one-stop shop for trading hard-to-find ‘80s and ‘90s streetwear. They also work with a number of up-and coming designers and illustrators to create limited edition prints and T-shirts with their infamous logo on – so be sure to snap one at this fun and buzzy Holdrons Arcade store.

An innovative brand representing south-east London, its a range of unisex leisurewear, accessories, ceramics and prints all featuring original drawings. The unique style combines traditional drawing with digital design. She draws inspiration from her urban surroundings, the people of Deptford and Peckham, and the buzz of everyday London
