undercurrent is a one-day festival dedicated to platforming East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) artists working in performance and sound art—disciplines often overlooked within the mainstream contemporary art world. The festival features 13 ESEA artists/artist groups across a dynamic programme of live performances, sound works, DJ sets, and an exhibition.

At the heart of the festival are performances exploring heritage, integration, and the here and now, drawing out how ESEA identities are lived, questioned, and transformed through sonic and performative practices. These works span experimental sound, body-based performance, voice, movement, and cross-media installations, offering audiences a critical and immersive experience.

The event also includes an exhibition space presenting materials used in the live works and sonic installations parallel to the performances, allowing audiences to engage more deeply with each artist’s context, methodology, and research. The festival culminates in a high-energy ESEA DJ night, presented in collaboration with Myna Stage and Half East Records as music event collaborators.
