Living Threaded: A Studio of Becoming transforms Copeland Gallery into a working studio where care, visibility, and co-creation take centre stage. Rooted in Amanda Denise Graham’s ongoing exploration of grief, misrecognition, and creative survival, the exhibition invites visitors to step inside an evolving archive shaped by many hands, voices, and emotional rhythms.

The works in this show move between memoir, textiles, unfinished portraiture, and poetic fragments, tracing the boundaries between what is seen and what is felt. Through stitching, writing, listening, and collaborative making, the exhibition asks how stories are carried, inherited, interrupted, and reclaimed. Rather than presenting a fixed narrative, Living Threaded embraces unfinishedness as a radical act—an insistence that becoming is continuous, relational, and shared.

Across interactive stations, community-led installations, and youth-generated responses, the exhibition foregrounds the voices of underrepresented young people, caregivers, and those navigating grief or cultural misrecognition. Visitors are invited to contribute to the Memoir Mapping Wall, respond to prompts about care and belonging, and engage with the Youth Voice Archive, which gathers reflections from Amanda’s facilitation work at a South East London Sixth Form College and wider outreach.

While the themes resonate universally, they are deeply rooted in the layered histories and shifting communities of South East London. The exhibition positions the gallery as a site of intergenerational dialogue—where making becomes a form of listening, and visibility becomes a shared responsibility. Through collective authorship, Living Threaded encourages audiences to consider how care, creativity, and community can reshape the spaces we inhabit and the futures we imagine.
