In Perforated places_urban thresholds, the city is taken as an extension of body – explore place through the language of action. How place holds memory and echoes untold stories.

If the idea of the city, can be seen as an expression of a civilisation, the human mind on a pedestal – explore “the cracks”, where other stories leaks and linger, ready to break through the asphalt.

Facilitated by gustaf broms, this five-day intensive is for artists looking to offer attention differently, and to shift their ways of inhabiting and relating to this place.

The workshop draws on and expands gustaf’s extensive experience as an artist working between performance, video and installation, and his exploration of the nature of consciousness, the dualistic concept of Being NATURE (the biological process of body), and being MIND (as intellect interprets experience).

You will start each day at an outdoor site that invites experience of the in between, the cracks, where different modes of being meet.

Like the ancient tide of the river flow, meets the city’s linear time, or the persistent dance of organic worlds break through the concrete.

Through osmosis merge with place, interact and gather materials.

In the second part of the day, return to the studio to further investigate found materials, how they contain a condensed story, echoes of its previous journeys, you will explore how to build new stories out of stories.
