Abi Read Studio is a creative practice specialising in book design for the illustrated non-fiction sector. With 8 years industry experience in graphic design, illustration and art direction, Abi receives briefs both from independent clients and from some of the largest publishing corporations in London.
Since Abi rented her first studio in Copeland Park in 2014, the business has moved twice to larger studios within the Bussey Building, and is expanding to work on production-based projects, as well as editorial commissions and books for international markets.
Abi’s work was recently shortlisted for a British Book Design and Production award for Kate Watson-Smyth’s Mad About the House, which she designed and illustrated.
Abi trained in Illustration at Kingston University, and then in book design in-house with a division of Hachette, one of the largest publishing corporations in the UK.
Abi knows books inside and out, cover to cover, and is always pushing forward to design and illustrate beautiful future-focused books.
