Alison is a scenographer working in theatre, dance, installation, public space, and site specific environments. Her practice is a process of experiment and play with materials, texture, site, found objects, and the movement of people, always seeking to find a shared space between audience and story. She transforms spaces and tells stories visually and atmospherically, aiming to use design to connect people and place, and give the audience agency. Her work incorporates spatial transformation, set design, costume, light, video, and (more recently) responsive technologies.

Alison designs for new writing and devised theatre both in traditional theatre buildings and in response to site specific locations. She also instigates her own projects working closely with site and community to evolve socially engaged scenography specific to a particular place. From 2009-2017 Alison ran Bread & Goose, a company creating theatrical journeys for adventurous audiences.

Alison trained as a designer at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, and over the past ten years has collaborated with companies around the world. She is represented by The Designer’s Formation and her work is available to view on her website
