The amiable and friendly Cynthia Charity Wilberforce sells men’s and womenswear, ready-made dresses and kaftans and collectable fabric prints from Europe and Africa (Vlisco, Kente etc) for the Copeland Park community and beyond. Laces and fabrics are aplenty but customers can order anything in that they can’t see in the shop.

A retired care manager from Peckham, Cynthia started this fabric and accessories enterprise in 1998 but set up Love’s at Holdrons Arcade 4 years ago, working mostly alone – she sometimes has her daughter help out on the stall at busier times. Her married name is GboGbo and she added ‘Love’ by deed poll, which is how the shop got its name.

Much of her stock includes those hard-to-find skin products, such as L’Amour Shea Butter from Ghana, lipsticks and other beauty products that customers come in their droves to buy in order to remind them of back home.

If you need to pick up accessories for a special event or grand wedding then there’s a wealth of evening bags, glamorous heels, costume jewellery and beads to buy at Love’s that will make you stand out.

A bespoke tailor, if you need any simple alterations done then come and see Cynthia who works at home, to a quick turnaround. She also makes signature cushion covers and aprons to sell alongside coveted fabric rucksacks in bold African prints; ideal when creating sharp Peckham interiors and street-style fashion.
