Story Designs is a unique London-based studio dedicated to embellishment and embroidery design.
Heading up the studio is Julinka Misztal, who graduated from Middlesex College in 1996 before studying for an MA in Fashion Womenswear at The Royal College of Art. Story was established by Julinka in 2012 – following her successful career in womenswear design for brands such as Christian Lacroix, John Richmond, Rebecca Taylor and Karen Millen.
Her Story was inspired by a love of India and the creativity and passion for textiles that is part of its cultural heritage. Story aims to support local artisanal traditions of hand embroidery and embellishment, breathing new life into these ancient techniques and materials by combining the traditional with a British-design school aesthetic.
Story specialises in directional and modern yet feminine embellishment and embroidery designs for the womenswear, homeware and childrenswear markets.
Over the past 6 years our Story has grown to a small buzzing team with three designers and a dedicated Sales Manager selling our designs all over the world and at major trade shows; Premiere Vision in Paris and New York.
Story is proud to now count over 300 UK and international brands as clients, including Coach, Ralph Lauren, Anthropologie, Zara, Topshop, ASOS, French Connection and River Island among others.
It welcomes private commissions and special projects and now also has agents in New York (overseen by Matt Jimson and Ben Fleming) and Tokyo (run by Kazuo Nishiyama).
