Tava Rakh is a plant-based food business run by Mala Lal. Tava Rakh means “put the hot plate on” in Punjabi – a phrase Mala’s mum would say, signalling the start of cooking (and tasty food coming!). Growing up in a Punjabi household, Mala was constantly surrounded by rich, indulgent Indian comfort food. For her, cooking remains a way to unwind, connect, and share warmth, nostalgia, and generosity through food.
