In February 2018, ASHLEY ROMMELRATH (RAPTURE BOOKS) was conducting a routine eBay search for interesting second-hand finds. During this search he came across an unusual listing from an anonymous account stating they had cleared out the basement of a closed art school in Los Angeles. The listing appeared to advertise a box of photographic slides for sale – they were labelled as Nan Goldin’s photography series ‘The Ballad of Sexual Dependency‘.
After much work to attempt to verify the origins of the photos, the mystery still continues – but now, a little over half decade later, they are the focus of the new exhibition BALLADS, SOMETHING FOUND…
