Space, Place &nd Identity – presents the work of recent graduates from the MA Photography & Urban Cultures programme at Goldsmiths, University of London. Developed by the Centre for Urban and Community Research, emphasising the creative interplay between photography and critical theory. Their shared journeys on the MA course have brought them together as a collective, connected by mutual interests to themes of Space, Place, and Identity.

Drawing on the work of theorists such as Doreen Massey, Marc Augé and Stuart Hall, all three artists (Hazel Gaskin, Souhail Zaatari and Rohan Patel) visually explore concepts of place, between personal identity and the spaces they encounter, using photography as a research tool to respond to social and cultural questions. Each distinct in approach, their individual projects are connected by a shared interest in the ways cultural and structural environments shape personal and collective experiences, examining notions of belonging, displacement, cultural memory and urban transformation. Collectively, their works highlight the complex interplay between place and identity in a rapidly changing world.
